Report Description
SATELLITE IMAGERY SHOWS A SLICK EXTENDING APPROXIMATELY 40 KM NE FROM THE DESTROYED PLATFORM AT MISSISSIPPI CANYON 20. THE SLICK WAS 2.5KM WIDE AT THE WIDEST POINT. CONFIDENCE IS HIGH GIVEN THE SLICK IS ORIGINATING FROM A REPEAT LEAK SOURCE. THIS ALLOWS THE HIGH CONFIDENCE EVEN THOUGH THE ANALYZED SLICK IS NOT IN SUNGLINT AND THUS DARK IN COLOR. PREVIOUS ANALYSIS ON JUNE 18, 2013 SHOWED SLICK TO THE EAST OF DESTROYED TAYLOR PLATFORM AND WITH WEAK WINDS AND OCEAN CURRENTS FROM THE SOUTHEAST TODAY, IT APPEARS TO HAVE PUSHED THE SLICK MORE NORTHWARD.
